THE LAW

• The minimum age you can legally drive a car on the public roads is 17.

• If you are disabled and in receipt of mobility allowance the minimum age are 16.

• Until the day you pass your driving test, you are not allowed to drive on your own and must drive with a supervising driver who is at least 21 years old and who holds a full EC/EEA licence for the category of vehicle being driven. This driver MUST have held that licence for at least 3 years.

 

• 'L' plates must be displayed on the back and front of the vehicle.

 

• The car must be roadworthy, taxed, insured, and hold a current MOT if it is over 3 years old.

 

• You are not permitted to drive on motorways.
